Privacy Policy for Legends of Hearts (Demo / Early Access)

Welcome to Legends of Hearts (“we”, “us”, or “our”), developed by Angscope. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you play the current playable build (Demo/Early Access) of our game available on the Epic Games Store and Steam. We are committed to protecting the privacy and safety of our players, especially children.

1. Important Notice About This Version

This is a beta demo/early access version of Legends of Hearts, provided for testing and feedback purposes only.

  • Data May Be Reset: Player data, progress, and leaderboards may be wiped or reset at any time during this phase.
  • Features May Change: This build is a work in progress. Features, gameplay mechanics, and content may change or be removed before the full game launch.
  • Not the Final Product: This represents a development build and may contain bugs or incomplete features.
  • Future Full Release: This policy applies specifically to the current demo/early access build. The full game may include additional features (such as in-game purchases, expanded multiplayer, or new third-party services). If our data practices change, we will update this Privacy Policy and notify players prior to or upon the full release.

 

2. Children’s Privacy and Age Gating (COPPA & GDPR-K)

Legends of Hearts is a kid-friendly game. We strictly comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the GDPR-K.

  • Under 13: If you are under the age of 13, we will not collect any personal information from you without verifiable parental consent.
  • Kids Web Services (KWS): We use Kids Web Services to manage age-gating and obtain parental consent. If a player indicates they are under 13, KWS will prompt for a parent’s email to grant permission. If consent is not granted, the child will not be able to create an account or access online features.

 

3. Information We Collect

We only collect the minimum amount of data necessary to make the game work. We do not collect unnecessary Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

  • Account Information: We receive your Epic Games Account ID or Steam Account ID, and your Discord User ID when you link your accounts. We do not have access to your passwords.
  • Device & Technical Data: IP address, device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
  • Gameplay Data: In-game statistics, progress, leaderboard scores, and match history.
  • No Financial Data: As this is a demo/early access build, we do not collect, process, or store any payment or financial information. Any future monetization features will be covered in an updated policy.

 

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data strictly for the following purposes:

  • Multiplayer Networking: To connect you with other players in our co-op environments.
  • Leaderboards & Progression: To save your progress and display your rank on leaderboards (subject to reset).
  • Community & Roles: To verify your Discord account and automatically assign you the correct community role in our Discord server.
  • Testing & Feedback: To gather analytics on gameplay performance, bug reports, and user behavior to improve the final game.
  • Security & Support: To prevent cheating, enforce our Terms of Service, and provide customer support.

 

5. Third-Party Services

We partner with trusted third-party services to power our game. These services have their own privacy policies:

  • Epic Games & Steam: Used for secure login and authentication.
  • Kids Web Services (KWS): Used for age verification and managing parental consent.
  • Photon (by Exit Games): Used for real-time multiplayer networking. Photon processes IP addresses and game data to route your connection to other players.
  • PlayFab (by Microsoft): Used for backend services, including cloud saves, leaderboards, and game analytics.
  • Discord: Used for community chat. We use the Discord API solely to verify your identity and assign your specific badge.

 

6. Parental Rights

Parents or guardians who have created an account for their child via Kids Web Services have the right to:

  • Review the personal information collected from their child.
  • Revoke consent and request the deletion of their child’s data.
  • Refuse further collection of data. To exercise these rights, parents can log into their KWS parent portal or contact us directly at info.loh@angscope.com.

 

7. Data Security, Retention & Wipes

We use industry-standard security measures to protect player data.

  • Data Retention: We retain gameplay data only for the duration of the current demo/early access period.
  • Data Wipes: Player data, including progress, leaderboards, and statistics, may be deleted or reset at any time without notice during this phase.
  • Post-Demo/Deletion: If you delete your account or request data deletion via KWS, we will remove your personal data from our servers within 30 days.

 

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

As Legends of Hearts develops from a demo into a full release, our data practices may evolve. We will update this Privacy Policy to reflect any new features, third-party services, or changes in how we handle your data. We will notify players of any material changes via our Discord server, Steam/Epic store page announcements, or in-game notices. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
